I mportant Announcement 3/12/20: The school is being proactive in taking steps to help keep the COVIT-19 virus out of our district. Our maintenance team will be doing a deep clean over the weekend of both buildings. MCAS programs scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled. The Open House scheduled for tonight for grades K-5 has also been cancelled. We continue to follow the guidlines set by the Center of Disease Control and our local Health Agencies. We also follow protocol set by the Springfield School District. Parents and families will be notified of any changes should they occur. Equally important for her work in the Coast Guard, Emily says participating in the SABIS Student Life Organization prepared her to be a leader and gave her the skills to work with others as a team. SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Amari Q. Brown “ SABIS made me the person I am today,” says Amari Q. Brown, a 2014 graduate of the SABIS International Charter School who is starting a promising job at Accenture in Charlotte, NC, as a management consultant analyst. Amari’s path to a promising career was paved by SABIS . When he was going into the 7 th grade, his grandmother was looking around Springfield for the school that could offer him the best education in the city. She found SABIS . “When I entered the 7 th grade at SABIS, SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Nabori Santiago It is the season of “thanksgiving,” and Nabori Santiago has a lot to be thankful for, especially when it comes to the education he received at SABIS International Charter School of Springfield. “I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I definitely wouldn’t have had the confidence to get through the high stress college environment found at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology if it weren’t for SABIS,” says the aerospace engineering graduate. “Taking the SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Andres Gomez Andres Gomez is living his dream. It’s a dream he was prepared to pursue through the education he received while attending SABIS International Charter School of Springfield. “There was a challenging culture created at SABIS that encouraged you to continue to grow and move forward in life,” says Andres. “In other schools I attended, I knew there were some classes I could breeze by, but that was never the case at SABIS. There was always an opportunity to challenge yourself and SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Xiomara Alban Xiomara Alban of Springfield has accomplished great things since graduating from SABIS International Charter School and earning her college degree at the University of New Hampshire Durham in 2010. “I was very active as a student leader at college after learning how to lead while at SABIS. At UNH, I founded the first multicultural and only sorority on campus,” she says proudly, noting her parents emigrated to the U.S. from Ecuador. Today Xiomara is Associate Director of Admissions at Elms SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Stephanie Morin Stephanie Morin wants to dedicate her life to changing the world. Currently a doctoral student at UMass Amherst studying molecular and cellular biology, Stephanie’s path in life was set in motion while attending the SABIS International Charter School in Springfield. It was Stephanie’s mom – looking for a better opportunity for her daughter – who signed her up to attend SABIS. “In hindsight, I’m happy she did. I was one of those smart kids who stuck out. At SABIS I SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Trevon Jones Trevon Jones graduated in May 2018 from Bentley University with a major in finance, and he is determined to use the opportunities he has had in life to help others. A major factor enabling many of the opportunities he has had so far is the SABIS International Charter School. “Going to SABIS stimulated my intellectual curiosity,” says Trevon. Truth be told, initially he didn’t want to attend SABIS. “My mom wanted the best possible education for me, but I was more concerned about SABIS ® Salutes Alumni Brittany Archey When SABIS International Charter School opened in Springfield in 1995, Brittany Archey was there. Her mom wanted a better education for her, one where she could grow and have consistency and not have to move around from elementary to middle to high school. “[SABIS] has a very rigorous curriculum…it allowed you to learn a lot,” Brittany says.
